Authorized Roads for ATV/UTV Operation.

Most town owned roads, with some exceptions, within the Town of Stephenson are open to ATV use.  This does not include county highways or their entire right-of-way.  The utilization of county highways for ATV operation within the Town of Stephenson is subject to County of Marinette ordinances.  Please contact the County of Marinette (www.marinettecounty.com) for information on county highways open to ATV/UTV operation.

As per State of Wisconsin Statute:  Any road opened to ATV/UTV use must be properly posted as an ATV route. There are no exceptions to this statute, thus any operation on an unposted roadway is illegal.

If the roadway is not posted do not assume it is o.k. to use it as an ATV route.  Please operate ATV's only on authorized and properly posted trails and ATV/UTV routes.  Also, most dead-end roadways are authorized for trail-access only and limited to residents (or their visitors) of that roadway.  They are not authorized routes for general ATV/UTV operation.

When not regulated by Chapter 23 of the Wisconsin Statutes the maximum speed limit for ATV/UTV's or any road route within the Town of Stephenson is 35 mph, unless otherwise posted by official ATV/UTV regulatory sign(s).  In all cases, the most restrictive speed limit shall apply.

Please obey all posted signs and informational markers an enjoy safe ATV/UTV'ing!
