GENERAL ELECTION – November 5, 2024

 

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

 

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling places on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing. Contact your municipal Clerk and request an application for an absentee ballot to be sent to you. You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter. This request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email, fax, or in person. You may also make application at MyVote.wi.gov.

Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail.The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is 5 pm on the fifth day before the election, Thursday, October31 2024 NOTE: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal Clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

Voting an absentee ballot in person.You may also request and vote an absentee ballot in the Clerk’s office or other specified location during the days and hours specified for casting an absentee ballot in person.               The first day to vote absentee in the Clerk’s office is: October 22, 2024.

The last day to vote is November 1, 2024.

 

 

The municipal Clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on Tuesday NOVEMBER 5, 2024. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

Camper Permits

The Town of Stephenson has an ordinance (Title 12, Chapter 1, Section 5d) in effect which require all owners to obtain a parking permit for their campers which are parked in the Town, on an unimproved parcel for a period of time longer than 4 (four) months within each calendar year.

Dog License

All dogs over the age of 5 months, male or female, within the Town of Stephenson must get a certificate of license and tag to be attached to a collar. Owners found in violation are subject to fine and the offending animal(s) subject to impoundment at the owners expense. 

  • $8 for any unspayed, unneutered dog.
  • $3 for spayed or neutered (proof of rabies shots and neutering from veterinary mandatory for all dogs).
  • Can be paid with taxes. License is valid for 1 year, Jan. to Jan.

 


Fireworks Permits

Fireworks permits may be issued by the Town of Stephenson, Town Board for those events, organizations and individuals listed in Town Ordinance 7-5-1 only.  

A Fireworks permit is required except for a cap not containing more than one quarter grain of explosive mixture, a toy snake, a sparkler on a wire, paper confetti streamers, a smoke producing device or cylindrical fountain.  So called fireworks permits obtained from a fireworks retailer or other sources not defined in Town Ordinance 7-5-1  are not valid within the Town of Stephenson.

Parade/Event Permits

Event permits are required for any parade or event held within the Town of Stephenson.  Please download and complete the Event Permit.  Once completed the permit can be applied for by contacting Elaine Olson, Town Clerk and submitting the completed permit application along with the required permit fee.

Temporary Class B Retailers License

Required for any event at which the sponsoring organization wishes to sell fermented malt beverages of wine.  This permits application must be completed and forwarded to the Town Clerk along with the required $15.00 fee.

$2.00 per bag for up to a 30-gallon bag (including our garbage bags for purchase)
$3.00 per bag for 31 gallons or larger
Clear bags are preferred
When you purchase our bags … you do not pay an extra fee to drop off these garbage bags.
Our bags are nice, sturdy and bigger than regular kitchen garbage bags.
