Observer Program provides possible candidates with opportunity to ride along on an actual call and observe squad members in action to see if it would be something you would be interested in.
Training Time: First Responder, 60 hrs. EMT, 148 hrs. (2 nights a week at 3 hr sessions).

Hours: 8am – 4pm Monday through Friday 8am – 12noon on 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month May thru September
Fees: $33 per ton
$2 per tire up to 15 inch, $5 anything larger or $150 per ton
Not accepted: Any yard waste, liquid waste of any kind or recyclable items.
Any rubbish or waste articles which could fall or blow off a vehicle must be covered or tied down so as not to spill on any roadway. Fines up to $200 could be incurred for offenses.

What to recycle & how to prepare:
- Newspapers only (no stapled material) Bundled and tied securely in stacks of 6 to 8 inches.
- Cereal boxes, wax coated
- Cardboard, etc. Bundled and tied securely in stacks of 6 to 8 inches.
- Magazines, junk mail, glossy inserts Bundled and tied securely in stacks of 6 to 8 inches
- Brown Cardboard Flatten, bundle, and tied together.
- Glass jars and bottles Must be rinsed clean. Remove lids and sort by color (clear, green, and brown). No need to remove label. No window glass, mirrors, light bulbs, dishes, or glasses.
- Tin cans (food cans only. No paint or chemicals cans) Must be rinsed clean. Cut out ends and flatten.
- Aluminum (separate cans and foil) Can be be flattened. All foil must be rinsed clean.
- Plastic (containers Rinse all containers. Remove caps. Sort into bottles & lids) appropriate bins: HDPE 2, PETE-1
- Used motor oil &
- Automotive batteries Can be brought to both sites & reuse own containers.
- Scrap metal & yard waste: Grass, branches, leaves. Accepted at Twin Bridge site and Crivitz site on Gene St.
- Foam or polystyrene or plastic bags not accepted at any site.
30 gal. garbage bags are available for $1 and smaller bags for 50 cents at the recycle centers. They can then be brought back to the recycle centers for disposal.
